LAST DAY IN THE MOOG STAND OG BUILDING (Kali's stand)

a love letter to a building
our posts are usually people focused, or drinks. but today we'll think on our OG building. spent this morning scrolling through thousands of photos in this building and parking lot, and chose building shots to post. because White Duck isn't going away - our people, our memories, all those bits of life are still here.
but we're moving.

the first photo we have of this lot is from March 2016. a motion-blurred shot out a car window on a gray day. the next photo is a zoom in on the leasing poster and phone number, the car parked where the stand would eventually be.

in June of 2019 we chalked construction lines on the concrete. by October the walls were up, and that following March we opened.
this 240 square feet of metal and wood birthed us. literal blood sweat and tears. it held us as we grew; was there for us when we took our first steps. for years, this building WAS White Duck. Gabby worked here when she had her daughter Avah. Whittney worked here when she had her daughter Piper.
the building was too small for the number of you that just. kept. coming. by, but we are - always - a work in progress. we got faster. improved. we started getting to know you, and you us. we grew together, squished in here. it worked.

we patched it up, constantly. like a grizzled war-torn soldier, it has held strong and served us well through every stretch and strain and spill and surprise.
we etched bits of memory in door jams; taped up photos and art, leaned and leaned and leaned out the window toward you, then tiled up the wall underneath when holes wore in it from use.
now, it's time to move. still drive-thru only, but more space, in a long-term home.
we'll be open tomorrow normal hours in the new spot.

we know, you'll miss the OG building. Kali's stand. we will too. in some ways, it's something to grieve. but we're not actually leaving. the new building will be the OG White Duck now.
and in 6 years, we'll have made memories in that building, too.

The Grinch reviewed these two drinks last year (which he LOVED by the way), but he just sent us another letter so let’s see what he has to say:

Dear Caffeine Wizards,
You may have gotten my attention last year, but that was all a FLUKE. I haven’t tried them since, and I’m sure they are just as terrible as I remember.
I will not be caught off guard this time. But will I give it another try? Yes, just to prove my point. Because no one can capture the Grinch’s essence. There’s only one Grinch. And that’s ME. Me. Me. Me.

Update: I’m appalled. There is absolutely no way. The Lotus is just as sour and fruity as I remember topped with that Coconut Milk float that I now MIGHT enjoy.
And the Macchiato still consists of that minty swirl of flavor topped with espresso and that so-called “holiday cheer” of a drizzle.
After trying both I can’t get myself to sleep. Max is even restless. Something feels different.
Why does my chest feel more full? Why do I feel a fast-paced beating in my chest? I feel lighter, maybe even… happier. It’s as if my heart has grown three sizes. Impossible. I’m gonna go see my doctor, and you guys WILL be paying for my medical bills.
