It seems like a good day to smash one of the new White Duck tumblers into a Pineapple Express Lotus.
These types of cup battles are an age-old tradition. Two duelers stand at the ready, cups prepared for battle.
At the mark, arms extend forcefully and cups collide in an explosion of energy and (often) caffeinated liquid. Kapow.
As you can see by Sam’s relaxed approach and constant facial expression, the strength of her White Duck tumbler left her fully confident.
Whittney, however, lost her Lotus. The blow was sudden, and definitive. There was no coming back. She is now Lotusified.

We do. We just adore these little bundles of energy and cuteness.
One of our favorite things is seeing your pup hanging her head outside the window excited to say hi to us, knowing she’s about to get her pup cup.
We’ve even got a (currently dormant) @whiteduckdoggos account which may need to be resurrected. 🤩
SO BRING YOUR PUPS BY! We can do pup cups with or without little treats in them, and with or without whipped cream, depending what your furry buddy’s tummy prefers.

The Dream is another legendary drink around here - one of our very first layered Lotuses we created (by barista Yanisia, who’s no longer slinging drinks here, but still comes by!).
It’s a citrusy surprise, from the pour of OJ on top. Refreshing and bright.
Those first duck days, drinks were a single color. Smash some flavors together, stir it up, serve with a grin.
Our crew were the ones who started getting wild on what was possible in a PET cup, and as you’ve seen it’s only gotten more fun as we go.
Do you have to just shake it up as soon as you get it to mix the flavors well? Maybe, sure. But ah geez do those drinks look pretty heading out of our window and into yours.

they knew the rain was coming - a stormy gray sky and a feeling in the air let them feel it before they even thought it.
but it wasn’t there yet. there was time to stand by the wall with an Iced Bananas Foster Latte for a quick photo.
it was a cool place to stand. a spring flower adorned the paneling, and the drink popped against the April background.
it smacked of bananas and buttery vanilla and brown sugar cinnamon…. as soul-warming as the dessert it was named after.
Paige and Ari smiled. Life was good.
THE BECKONS
The legend of the Beckons Lotus is a tale retold among ducks often, with much hilarity. Because, you see, its name is not its name.
First, we should say, the Lotus itself tastes like a refreshing citrusy blue Orange Juice. It’s divine.
Originally, we posted this drink as the Blue Orange. For obvious reasons. And we thought it would call to you mightily, in our post we said “the Blue Orange beckons.” IT CALLS TO YOU.
But then everyone started to order the “Blue Orange Beckons” and yall continued to decide a nice nickname would just be the “Beckons.”
So the name - the Blue Orange - is gone. All that remains is…

Neesa is our newest barista at the Van Duck location, a little over a month into being a duck.
We already adore her bold smarts and attention to detail and speed. Neesa also cracks us up with her sense of humor, and is so kind!
Neesa instantly jumped in and felt comfy learning the ropes and chatting with y’all and the team. She’s a duck! (and a cat mom!)
Say hey when you see Neesa at the stand - we’re pumped she’s here. HAPPY TUESDAY!
ECLIPSE LOTUS
It’s only fitting. Really we couldn’t post anything else today. (You know there’s an actual solar eclipse today, right?!)
The Eclipse Lotus has flavors of Blackberry and Orange, and tastes just like a momentary lack of sun. 🌞 🌖
You want eclipse details? Fine:
For Tampa Bay, our lovely moon will begin covering the sun around 1:46pm. Of course you’re a responsible adult, so you will NOT look directly at it, just like you wouldn’t tomorrow or yesterday.
Around 3pm, we’ll get max coverage of the sun - around 65% of the sun will be “covered” by the moon (as far as your perspective is concerned). ECLIPSE! The moon will keep passing the other way until about 4:15pm when the sun will be back to normal.
DON’T LOOK RIGHT AT IT WITH UNPROTECTED EYES. Yeah, we’re looking at you. 👀

every time y’all roll through, there’s a full team operating at ever-increasing levels of skill and speed to get a brilliant beverage to you with a grin.
we’re big on caring and conversation and treating you like a person, not “just” a customer.
but we’re also super serious about running the smoothest, fastest, most accurate drive-thru you’ve been through.
we meet frequently to discuss little things that could shave even a half second off times (without compromising quality). nothing is off the table - move a machine, commission a custom new one built, reframe a window, change the order we do something or adjust our wording in line or at the window.. we are a work in progress.
and hey - that speed and accuracy is part of our first core value anyway: we care for others. 🥰
it is a fine Saturday, and a good time to share an iced French Toast latte with you. (you could toss that flavor in an Espresso Shake too…)

BAJA BLAST LOTUS

did you notice Van Duck getting all Florida gardeny in our little front area? Whittney has been pillaging the outdoor section of local hardware and home shops. it’s pretty nice.
may your weekend be a great one - full of nice weather, good people, fun stuff to do.
the bagel couldn’t shake the feeling it was being watched
some rustle in the wind, some presence… it was hard to pin the feeling down. the bagel didn’t really have much in the way of senses, but somehow, it felt the watchers.

the croissant, however, was strong and unaware of these natural predators. stuffed ducks? dino ducks? these meant nothing to the croissant. it, itself, was stuffed with savory goodness, and this hearty filling gave it confidence as it sat on the sill.
plus, this specific croissant was buffalo chicken. should it need to, it could quickly call tomato mozzarella garlic, ham and cheese, or even pineapple coconut to come help. it was at peace.

the hot fresh mini donuts noticed nothing. they grinned with gusto at everything the world had to offer. their sugary toppings sweetened their view of the world. ah.
*remember the 32oz*
for 32 weeks Paula had been building a tiny railroad in her grandmother’s living room.
she’d seen a single old picture of her grandpa (who she missed dearly) building these trains, and had rabbit-holed dozens of YouTube channels to find you could still get a lot of this stuff today. maybe a bit less in brick and mortar, but easier now, because internet.
every Sunday morning, she’d grab a 32oz iced latte from White Duck (some adventurous treat days had called for a 32oz Toasted Marshmallow Mocha Espresso Shake with Oreo crumbles instead).
then she’d post up in granny’s living room where she’d dragged grandpa’s old work table in from the garage, and get to work on her train world.
little trees. people in benches, or throwing a frisbee in the park (she had used a tiny wire for that and been proud). tracks going up mountains and through a plain and even an underwater tunnel which had been 3 full Sundays to get right.
today, she sipped her latte and looked at her work. it was good. there were some pieces she’d change later (always a work in progress), but it felt complete for now. peaceful. she turned on the engine and let it trundle through the path she’d made.
granny was in her favorite chair reading a book, and Paula didn’t know granny was watching her while Paula took a long look at the photo of grandpa on the living room wall.
they both smiled.
